SILVERLINK COMPANY CHOSEN AS BEST OF BRITISH
20 January 2005
Fabriam tenant Dynamic Distance Learning (DDL) has surpassed over 2,000 companies in a national competition to represent the UK at CeBIT in Hannover.
UK Trade & Investment selected the Best of British entrants to exhibit their products at the world's largest trade fair for digital IT and telecommunications solutions in March 2006.
North East based DDL has been particularly successful by forming strategic partnerships with leading publishers such as Nelson Thornes, the UK's largest publisher of maths study materials. DDL is first to market with their innovative test and assessment software, including the new Blended Learning system.
DDL managing director David Gardner explained: "Blended Learning ensures that any learning and reference books will never be out of date. They are linked up to our online solutions, which can update content at the press of a button."
Government targets, including mandatory on-line testing, bodes well for DDL's growth prospects. Being based at the Fabriam Centre has already proved invaluable, enabling DDL to flexibly grow into larger office space as and when needed. DDL moved into Fabriam in May 2004 and has since doubled its workforce.
David added: "Moving to Fabriam was an obvious choice given the first class IT facilities here. We are only 20 minutes from Newcastle airport and our European visitors are always impressed by Fabriam's amenities, plus there is an excellent pool of skilled staff available here in the North East."
Active Book and other DDL products were developed by the 14 strong team based at Fabriam and in Redcar. The company has found ideal members for their team in graduates from both Teesside and Sunderland University.
In addition to online curriculum content, DDL provides vocational training to the offshore industry, a delivery system for EdExcel and a corporate learning environment. The company has already won a number of overseas clients in Germany, India, Sweden and Syria.
It also recently exhibited at BETT, the world's largest educational information and communications technology event.
