About Fabriam
The North of England Microelectronics Institute (NEMI) was established in 1997 by a number of public and private sector partners. NEMI’s initial aim was to foster the expanding microelectronics industry in the region.
In 2007 NEMI rebranded to Fabriam as its original name no longer represented the diverse client base and service provision.
Since its formation, Fabriam has continuously adapted and expanded its service offering to meet the needs of the North East’s technology and engineering businesses.
Fabriam manages two of the region’s most prestigious business centres, both based in North Tyneside – the Fabriam Centre and Centre for Advanced Industry. The organisation provides affordable, high quality broadband to eight business centres in the region.
Its workforce development team has designed and managed various educational and training projects for the technology and engineering sector.
