Aggregated Broadband
A physical network joins together 8 business centres with some 200 small firms in an area from Gateshead to North of the Tyne.
The broadband is dual sourced using BGP with 34Mb/s from THUS Demon via dark fibre with a further 20Mb/s from Onyx Internet from their DataBanx utility in Newcastle. The distribution media are fibre, microwave and local wireless. Most of the links are dualled with single points of failure on the network similarly duplicated. All broadband is SDSL (same speed upload/download) with a wide range of user options from a standard low contention rate basic package to fully dedicated lines.

The business Centres using the facility are:
- TedCo – Quadrus, South Shields, Jarrow
- Centre for Advanced Industry, North Shields
- The Fabriam Business Centre, Silverlink
- Saville Exchange, North Shields
- Gateshead Intl. Business Centre and Greensfield Business Centre.
The network won the 2004 regional E-Commerce award in the ‘Best Use of Broadband’ category.
The system is covered by NEMI’s ISO9001 quality standard and is maintained 24/7 by Onyx Internet.
